We can't wait any longer! So it's not quite the start of summer, but we've decided to officially start The Sleuthing Sisters Scavenger Hunt anyway!  Think of it as a head start, a bonus of sorts, or as extra time. (That's right, we are giving away free time! And who doesn't want that?)

The scavenger hunt actually started as a way for my sister and I to have a fun summer and write our book. Food for the fodder!  Then, we realized we couldn't keep all this fun to ourselves. We wanted you to join in the crazy wonderfulness of it with us! So.... drumroll please.... without further ado, we hereby open the Sleuthing Sisters Scavenger Hunt for 2022! This summer (because the last few were, stated honestly, a bit of a disappointment for almost everyone) is going to be great, whether you are out vacationing around Europe or you're planning on staycationing near home, because this year you have a summer-long scavenger hunt! If you don't have fun with this, well, then, we're just not sure what to tell you.

As we stated before, the person with the most bonus points (and the posts/photos to prove them) will receive a $50 Amazon gift card! That's right, not only are we giving away free time but here we are throwing out money, too! Regardless of how many points you have, your entry could help us fill in a few blanks in our storyline, too! By posting, you give us permission to use your posts, comments and/or photos on our facebook page both electronically and in print for free. We're so excited for you to be part of the book! 

In addition to the scavenger hunt form we have for you to download, we will be posting Superbonus items here and there until the closing date on July 31, 2022, so you will want to check this blog or my facebook page to check for those opportunities to get extra points!

Dear Reader,

YES!  Some of YOUR answers from the scavenger hunt may feature in our upcoming cozy mystery. We haven't decided the details of which ones will make the cut--perhaps it will be the answer that sounds most Primrose and Wisteria-ish or perhaps it will be a popular answer that keeps popping up. Maybe it will be different for each occurrence (which is, honestly, more likely), but some will be used.

For example, in writing the story, we have portions that looks like this:

"At 1:00 every Tuesday, Wisteria and Primrose met them at Allspice Bakery to assist with any taste testing that needed to be taken care of.

This particular week, the item that needed sampling, or rather, taste testing, was  ________. “Ooh,” said Wisteria as she took a bite, "This_____ is so very_________.” (Blanks to be filled in by scavenger hunt)."

Could the first blank be a Luscious Lemon Bar? Yes, it could. Could a Decadent Fudge Brownie win out? You bet. What about Just A Little Apple Galette? Well, considering that is a dessert created by a fictional character (Amaranth, The Deep & Secret Things), that has a slimmer chance than most. Nonetheless, you get the idea, right?

I am co-authoring a cozy mystery with my own sleuthing sister, Jacque Dutton. We are having such a blast writing and experiencing life through the eyes of our two main characters, Primrose and Wisteria.

In order to write from their viewpoint, we have fashioned ourselves a scavenger hunt. Not any ordinary scavenger hunt. We will not be knocking on doors and asking for paperclips or quarters, instead the items will be something like this:

- Visit a small, local cafe and ask the waitress what is the juiciest gossip she's heard this week.

- Visit a bakery and ask the cashier what is the best selling dessert. Get a photo of them with it, and of course, try it out for ourselves. 

- Hide a cryptic note and watch to see what happens

We will be posting the pictures and our results (sans real names on the gossip tidbits) here on our blog!
